Since the beginning of Syria's civil war more than 2 million of it's citizens have fled to neighboring countries with more fleeing every day. In Jordan alone there are more than 550,000 Syrians, over half of them children. In January I travelled to Jordan as part of a team with Clowns Without Borders Ireland
Sean Quinn is a well known fixture of the Irish business landscape. I recently spent a few days in Ballyconnell, Co Cavan covering a story on Quinn for German publication Capital.
It's great to start a year with a cover. I hope it's a sign of what is to come in 2013.
In September 2012 I had the pleasure of shooting a story on sustainable food within the national parks system for the National Parks Magazine based in Washington DC. This assignment was all shot in San Francisco and Marin county mainly in the Golden Gate recreation area including areas such as the majestic Muir Woods National Monument, named after one of my personal heroes Scottish man John Muir. Thanks to my stellar editors Scott Kirkwood and Nicole Yin this was a perfect editorial assignment from start to finish. The story is currently running in the Winter 2013 edition of the magazine.
A roadtrip to Newtownards, Co Down, passing through Belfast took me on my first shoot for Readers Digest UK magazine. It was the first shoot that I've ever called off day of. Not a decision that is ever taken lightly but extreme weather called for extreme measures. Well sort of. The weather on original shoot day had been appallingly bad and incredibly dark and though in Belfast already I made the call to reschedule. Our subjects Renny and Elle were flexible so we headed home and came back for a brighter happier day. The article titled 'Christmas Past' is in the Christmas edition of the magazine and complete with the sunny result of our mini trip up north.
An outtake from the shoot. Autumn in full swing.
